Holy Is More Than a Word

At Christmas we sing, “O, Holy Night” and read the Christmas story which tells us that a holy child was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin.  We have heard the words so often that they may have become meaningless like when we greet others with “how are you?”  We really do not expect an answer.  In like manner, we talk about this holy event without consideration of what we are really saying.
This holy child grew up to reveal to us the holy God.  He learned obedience and submission and went to the cross to redeem us from the penalty of our sin.  He restores our relationship to his Holy Father God for all who follow him.  The life he lived was holy.  We are to be like him.  “O, Holy Night” is every night for those who call themselves Christians.  It is an entire lifestyle not merely a word we say at this time of the year.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
